The Bright Moon Temple was established at the current site in 1990 in an old gym building. As a result of the growth of attendance and generous donations, the temple was able to rebuild and the current temple was completed in 2014.

However, the Main Temple on the upper floor was sadly destroyed by the devastating fire on the 5th of February 2023. This temple is well loved and attended by people from within and outside the local area and hence the Springvale community is very determined to rebuild the Temple so that it can once again serve the community as a place for worship, a venue for community events and various cultural activities.

Many volunteers have generously offered their time to renovate the lower floor to a temporary functional temple for worshippers and visitors. To rebuild the temple requires considerable planning and co-ordination with architects, engineers, surveyors, builders and various levels of government, especially the City of Greater Dandenong Council. The initial steps to the rebuilding of the temple is now in progress.
